Our Programs Adventures in Learning The Adventures in Learning education portion of our program is like an open university, with no tests or homework. Four educational semesters are conducted annually. Each eight-week session offers Wednesday classes from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We offer lecture classes in a variety of topics, e.g. health, financial management, "Our Brains", "Great Books", nutrition, media & politics, Civil War, state and local history. We have had exercise classes on Tai Chi, yoga, P.A.C.E., square dancing and line-dancing; hobby classes on writing, water color, digital photography, genealogy, gardening, travel and personal growth classes on the spiritual journey and grief recovery. The purpose of Adventures in Learning is to provide adults with continuing education, stimulating discussion, fun and fellowship. The curriculum is developed and conducted by volunteers. Authorities in their respective fields serve as volunteer lecturers. Last year we had 1,752 registrations for classes. Students came from 50 zip codes in central Arkansas. Evening classes, Active Adventures are offered at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church. We also offer Computer Classes at the Neighborhood Resource Center at 12th and Pine. Volunteer coaches instruct the classes. Trips are planned around the city, state and nation, e.g. Chicago and New Orleans, and trips to the Arkansas Repertory Theatre morning performances. A volunteer member coordinates all of the trips. A comprehensive Health Fair is presented each fall, complete with flu shots. Read more and sign up for classes. Community Services The Civic Service portion of LifeQuest's program is committed to helping adults 55+ remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. LifeQuest understands the value in serving others and the inner reward that provides to the volunteer. Services such as Caring Wheels, (one on one transportation to medical appointments), Computer Comfort, (basic computer help), Friendly Callers (telephone reassurance), Handy Hands, (minor home repairs), Meals on Wheels (home delivered meals) and We Care (letters and calls of concern or congratulations) are proud components of our Center. LifeQuest also sponsors a Parkinson's Support Group and 55 Alive driving classes. All services are coordinated and operated by volunteers. These services are provided all year.
